1. Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how TeenChorez ("TeenChorez," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). It applies to:
- Teens — users between the ages of 15 and 18 who create an account to browse and accept chores.
- Parents and Guardians — the parent or legal guardian of a Teen user, who must verify and approve their teen's account before that teen may accept any chore.
- Homeowners — users who create an account to post chores and pay a Teen directly for completed work.
By creating an account or otherwise using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

- Profile photo, if provided
- A short bio, if provided

Messages
We collect the content of messages sent between a Teen and a Homeowner within the App's chat feature, along with the time each message was sent and read.
Device and usage information
We may collect standard technical information such as device type, operating system version, and general app usage/crash data, consistent with what is normally provided by the App Store platform.
3. How we use your information
- To operate the marketplace — matching Teens with nearby chores, displaying relevant information to both sides of a chore, and enabling in-app communication.
- To verify identity and enable parental consent — the identifying documents submitted by parents/guardians and Homeowners are used solely to confirm the identity of the person submitting them and to support the safety of the marketplace. These documents are reviewed manually by TeenChorez's founder and a designated parent reviewer — not by any automated facial recognition or biometric matching system.
- To facilitate ratings and accountability — so that both Teens and Homeowners can make informed decisions about who they choose to work with.
- To communicate with you — including account-related notices, verification status updates, and responses to support requests.
- To maintain safety and prevent misuse — including investigating reports of inappropriate conduct and enforcing our Terms of Use.
We do not use your information to serve third-party advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to data brokers or advertising networks.
4. How information is shared
- Between matched users: when a Teen accepts a Homeowner's chore, each party can see the other's first name, profile photo (if provided), and rating history, in order to safely complete the chore. Chat messages are visible only to the two participants in that conversation.
- With TeenChorez reviewers: identifying documents submitted for verification are shared only with the small number of individuals responsible for manually reviewing and approving or rejecting those submissions.
- With service providers: TeenChorez uses Google Firebase to securely host app data, and uses a third-party email service to deliver account-related notifications. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- For legal reasons: we may disclose information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of a user or the public.
We do not share identifying documents, chat messages, or account information with any advertiser, data broker, or unrelated third party.
5. Payments are not processed through the App
TeenChorez does not process, hold, or transmit any payments. The flat rate shown for a chore is an amount agreed to between the Teen and the Homeowner, and payment for completed work is arranged and exchanged directly between those two parties, outside of the App. TeenChorez does not collect any payment card, bank account, or financial information.
6. Minors' privacy
TeenChorez is intended for use by teens between the ages of 15 and 18. A Teen account cannot accept any chore until a parent or legal guardian has completed our verification process and approved the account. We designed this requirement specifically so that a parent or guardian is always aware their teen is using the App before that teen can interact with a Homeowner.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your teen has created an account without your knowledge or consent, please contact us immediately at the email address below so we can review and, if appropriate, restrict or remove the account.
7. Location information
Homeowner addresses are used to calculate and display approximate distance to nearby Teens, and to provide the exact chore location to a Teen once they have accepted that chore. We do not continuously track a user's real-time location in the background.
8. Data retention and deletion
We retain account information for as long as your account remains active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us at the address below. Upon request, we will delete your account information, except where we are required to retain certain records — for example, verification records tied to an active safety review, or information necessary to resolve an open dispute between users.
9. Data security
We use Google Firebase's security infrastructure to store app data, including access-control rules that restrict who can read or write specific data — for example, only the two participants in a chat thread can access that conversation, and only a user's own account can be edited by that user. Identifying documents are stored as part of a user's private account record and are not publicly accessible.
No method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
10. Your choices and rights
- You can review and update most of your account information directly within the App's Profile tab.
- You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- You can request that we delete your account and associated data, subject to the retention exceptions described above.
- Parents and guardians may contact us to request information about, or removal of, their teen's account.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the App or by email before the changes take effect.
12. Contact us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, or would like to exercise any of the rights described above, please contact us at our contact form.
